Everyone loves Bookwood!
Once a year, Bookwood brings together the entire Oakwood community, teachers, staff (and their families), to personally participate in the enrichment of our Elementary Campus Story Center. The money raised at this event goes directly to the purchase of books, library programs, resources and materials to keep our library and technology current and robust.
Not only is Bookwood good for our Story Center, it’s a whole lot of fun too! For the first time, Bookwood will host a traditional Book Fair!! At our Book Fair, you’ll have the opportunity to choose from countless titles for your kids to take home. In addition, you’ll be able to buy and dedicate books for your kids’ classrooms from their teachers’ wishlists! Dedications will involve a personalized book plate dedicated in your child or family’s name. Dedicating books to the classrooms gives kids a sense of pride and ownership in our school community!
That’s not all…. Amazing guest authors will be at Bookwood to talk about their latest books and engage us all with interactive discussions about the art of story crafting. Prepare to participate! Check out our GUEST AUTHORS page to see who's coming this year. Author books will be available for purchase on Fridays at the Elementary Campus starting 9/20 and at Bookwood through our independent bookstore partner, Once Upon A Time. In an effort to move toward becoming a more diverse, equitable and inclusive community, we are also excited to offer the book White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo in anticipation of our Voices Envisioned Event on January 14, 2020.
Complete with a photo booth and crafts such as our popular Bedazzling station, expect big laughs and good times all afternoon long surrounded by your Oakwood family. Sound like a lot? Don’t worry, a schedule of events and activities will be posted where all can see so you won’t miss a thing. And if you're getting hungry just thinking about all there is to do, relax! We’ve got Hot Dogs, Tacos, Fruit, Popcorn and Donuts “Oh My!” And the best part? Wait for it….
Tickets are $50 for your entire family (including your Gorilla Grandparents)— food and fun included! Priceless right? Ticket prices go up to $65 Wednesday, October 16th so purchase early! Please note this is a CASHLESS event! Credit Cards only!
