Tad Hills grew up in Norwell, Massachusetts and always enjoyed drawing, painting, and making things. Now Tad spends most of his days making books for children. He is the author and illustrator of the New York Times bestselling picture books Duck & Goose, Duck, Duck, Goose, How Rocket Learned to Read, and Rocket Writes A Story among others. These picture books have inspired many board books including What’s Up, Duck?, Duck and Goose Find a Pumpkin, Goose Needs a Hug, and leveled readers like Drop it Rocket and Rocket the Brave. Tad lives in Brooklyn with his wife, 2 kids (when they are not away at college) and a dog named Rocket, who has not yet learned how to read.

John August’s screenwriting credits include the live action Aladdin, Go, Frankenweenie, Corpse Bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and both Charlie’s Angels movies. He received a 2004 BAFTA nomination for his screenplay for Big Fish and wrote the book for the Broadway musical version. He received a 2006 Grammy nomination for lyrics for “Wonka’s Welcome Song.” He co-hosts the weekly Scriptnotes podcast with Craig Mazin, and runs the company that makes the popular screenwriting apps Highland 2 and Weekend Read. He’s a member of the Academy and serves on the board of directors of the WGA West. His middle-grade novel series, Arlo Finch, is currently published in 13 languages, with the third book in the trilogy, The Kingdom of Shadows, due out in February 2020.
